The Agenda would be as the previous meeting with action points.

Trial Dates in 2004 for qualification to 2005 squads.  The dates were confirmed that for the adult men only, 8 games on either 24th and 31st October  everbody else had to bowl 6 games on either 14th, 21st, 28th, November 2004 with the adult men bowling a further 2 games on these dates. The meeting suggested that some sort of financial reward also be included in the trials and requested that Phil Aldersley/Robin Liptrot look into this.

Mike Glover confirmed that letters had been sent out to bowling centres requesting costs etc to finalise a venue.  Replies had been requested for mid August after which the decision could be made.

Scott Banks Tournament with Yorkshire.  Mike Glover confirmed having had discussions with Chris Lansdowne and Chris Aldersley and that the date had been agreed as 15th January 2005.  The revised team game format had already been agreed with Yorkshire.

M G also confirmed that tender letters had been sent out to bowling centres and replies were expected in by mid August.

Albert Pursglove County Championships had been successfully completed. Bryan Wiggans confirmed that he still had to send in the financial report to the BTBA.

Little and Large Tournament at Morecambe.  This was due to take place on the 18th July.  Mike Glover confirmed having advertised it on the web site and sent emails to all his contacts within Lancs. BTBA but had been informed by Bev Weisenburger that so far entries were very low.  Steve Ray stated that he was keen to get going with the fund raising for this event.

Grand Prix Doubles at Morecambe.  This is still planned for the 6th 7th and 8thAugust and entries were coming in from all over the country except for Lancashire.  There are big money prizes for both scratch and handicap sections.

Chris Maughan 300 Game.  There had still been no response from the BTBA as a result of Mal Holmes’s appeal.  Mike Glover agreed to check that Lancashire BTBA had acknowledged his achievement.

Shirts.  Red Rose on shirts.  It was still agreed that the existing shirts were now dull as a result of the removal of the sponsor’s logo.  A quote for putting on a large red Lancashire rose had been received from Bev Weisenburger.  As requested at the previous meeting  further quotes should be obtained.  None as yet had been received.

Generally the meeting was in favour of looking at getting a totally new shirt.  It was suggested that a standard shirt which would be immediately identified as Lancashire but with some sort of additional different flashing or collar or sleeve colour for seniors, adults, YACs and juniors would be a good idea. It was agreed that the group previously arranged of Maureen McCarthy, Chris Aldersley, Barbara Glover should take this further and also involve Sam Corcoran and Nick Winstanley representing the junior opinion.

The meeting agreed that individuals’ names could be embroidered on the shirts, including officials, providing all were done in the same position on the shirts and same size which must not be very large with the same font type and colour.

Publicity Manager Greg Jennings was not present so no further progress on the communication with centre reps could be discussed.

Financial Principles.   MG stated a meeting still had to be arranged.

Under 10’s Academy.  Bryan Wiggans reported that further proposals and discussions had taken place with those who would be involved and a meeting was arranged to progress the scheme tomorrow, Sunday 11th at Wigan.  Entrants to the scheme would have to be nominated by the YBC and strong support would be necessary from the parents.

Presentation Night.  In the absence of Rachel Jennings no discussion took place except Barbara Glover confirmed having discussed the availability of a room at Lakeside bowl Preston.

The Weber Cup.  Barbara Glover confirmed that due to the excellent support last year, it was again being held in Altrincham on 8th 9th and 10th October 2004.   Tickets would be free and available from either Barbara or Mike Glover in due course.  Feed back from all those who went last year was that it was an excellent event and well worth seeing.  The organisers again were encouraging YBC,s to attend in groups with their shirts banners etc as they do at other sporting events.

BTBA Head Office.  In answer to a number of questions Mike Glover reported that he had received no information for a while from head office and would contact them again.

New YBC at Ashton under Lyne.  Pete Singleton requested that a starter pack be sent to Ian Grundy who was running this new YBC.  MG agreed that he would drop one off at the bowl.

Financial report.

Bryan Wiggans tabled the latest financial statement for those present to read.  The financial situation was as expected with sufficient money to cover lineage for all the county teams’ events but not enough to assist with the costs of travel and overnight stays.  There needed to be more fund raising by the separate sections (juniors,YACs adults and seniors) to put money into there own financial sections before this support could be provided.

Any other business.

Bryan Wiggans confirmed that he could put limited advertising on the web site if any sponsors or bowls wished to promote something.  He confirmed still having far in excess numbers of hits to what he expected on the site with still lots of  new as well as repeat ones.  It was strongly believed from feed back received that the site was one of the leading types in the country and read by people far and wide.

A proposal was made that the county investigate the willingness of bowling centres to participate in a card system for Lancashire squad bowlers to obtain preferential rates for practice and bowling.  This would encourage the bowlers to travel to other centres and also help them bowl on different lane conditions which would help when taking part in tournaments.  MG stated that he would write to them.

Next Meeting.

It was proposed that if the new bowl at Leigh had a suitable room and was willing to host our next meeting then it should be held there.  MG stated that he would visit Leigh bowl and ask after the meeting.  The date would be Saturday 16th October 2004 at 7.00pm

(Post Meeting note – Yes they do have a very nice room and are very pleased to have us there.)
