2nd QUARTERLY MEETING HELD AT  XS SUPERBOWL WORSLEY

 

ON SATURDAY 16th APRIL 2005.

 

MINUTES

 

Present

  1. Adult report.  Unfortunately Phil Aldersley due to work commitments had earlier in the week resigned as adult manager.  A replacement was now being sort.

Chris Aldesrsley was continuing as adult lady manager and would try to sort out the adult men’s team for the forthcoming Scott Banks tournament.

As a consequence there would be no adult members at tomorrows adult/senior training fun day.

  1. Junior report.  Under 18’s had an enjoyable at the InterCounties but were not amongst the medals this year.

The dates had been set for the u14 and u16 practices which

            were on all the notice boards.

            The junior team for the Scott Banks had been sorted.

Pete Singleton stated he would not be available for the second training session on the 5th June.  Laurie Wilson said he would be available to run it.

 

  1. YAC’s report.  Rachel Aldersley and Richard Beck confirmed that they had

recently attended the YAC Inter County tournament.  The men were only a     few pins away from the medals as a result of their improved bowling on the Sunday.  A good weekend was had by all.

 

  1. Senior Report.  Carol Barter and Mike Glover said that they had organised the   senior fun day, get together for tomorrow at Preston Lakeside.

They had the dates of the qualifying rounds as 5th June and 31st July with the

Final on the 1st/2nd October but no venues had been confirmed.

     

  1. Under 10 Academy.  The first session had been successfully held in March

Bryan Wiggans reported. They had all been issued with a ‘Survival Pack’ and were about to get their yellow shirts.  He stated that there was more work to do

before the next session on the 1st May.

They were also planning on putting a team in to the Pee Wee Tournament to be held at Hull on the 11th/12th June this year.

 

  1. Trials 2005. With the resignation of Phil Aldersley another volunteer was

requested to assist on the group to organise and plan the trials with Chris Aldersley and Bryan Wiggans. No volunteers were forthcoming.  The initial things to be sorted were the dates followed by the format and venue.

 

  1. Tournaments

The Scott Banks. The team managers urgently needed to get the names of the Lancashire bowlers to Pete Singleton for scheduling

Yorkshire still had not submitted their team names.

 

The Lancashire Tour.  The first event had been successfully  held at Worsley  managed by Edwin Whitehead.  The results would be posted on the Tour web site next week. The next one was at Bradford on the 12th June 2005. The dates for the later rounds still had to be finalised.

 

Grand Prix Handicap Doubles were still being held at Morecambe on the 13th and 14th August 2005 with £1000 1st prize, entry forms and information can be found on www.go-bowling.co.uk

 

Team England Grand Prix Doubles merit tournament was now fully arranged by Mike Duckworth and an interesting format agreed.  The dates are 29th &30th October 2005 again with a £1000 1st prize agreed

       7.   Awards.  The meeting was reminded that awards in the form of badges

/certificates were available from both Lancashire and national head office for outstanding scores. The Lancashire high achievement scores are on our website. A laminated sheet with these on would be produced for posting up on bowling centre notice boards.

 

  1. Centre Reps.  Bryan Wiggans confirmed that he would produce a new list of centre reps in a laminate sheet form for pinning up on notice boards.

Edwin Whitehead confirmed that he would assist Jackie Batty to carry out this role for Worsley and John Barter agreed to take it up for Blackpool.

 

  1. Lancashire News Letter.  Edwin Whitehead said that this newsletter was up

and running but he was short of information from any leagues not just sanctioned leagues to put in the news letter.  Barbara Glover said she would speak to Fred Timberlake about the Tuesday night league at Preston Mega bowl and Pat Kehoe for Preston YBC.  Others at the meeting would speak to their leagues. Edwin said any information would be of interest.

 

  1. Shirts.  The possibility of changing the Lancashire shirt was raised again.

Chris Aldersley would look at possible alternatives and costs for the next meeting.

It was pointed out that if a change was made it would involve all squad members having to get new ones.

 

12      Any other Business.  A question was raised about rulebooks.  All new members were issued free with one as part of their membership, existing members renewing did not get one.  Juniors also did not get one. However rulebooks could be purchased from head office if required.

 

Fund raising.  The meeting expressed grateful thanks to Steve Ray for all his efforts and commitment in his fund raising for the county at recent events.

Thanks also to all those who donated items including John and Carol Barter, Cath Dennison and Barbara Glover.

A question was asked about the old 300 club that used to be run.  Richard Beck said he would try to find out more details

 

Visit to Ashton Bowl. Mike Glover confirmed that he had received an invite from the General Manager of the above bowl, John Childs, to discuss closer links with the Lancashire BTBA. It was agreed that Pete Singleton, Richard Beck and Mike Glover would organise a mutually suitable date for this get together.
